Hello Margaret,

Our condolences on the passing of your Aunt Sylvia. Our current minister, Rev. John Burrill, has been at Highlands for 30 years, so I'm sure he remembers your aunt well. Once Rev. Burrill has returned from holidays, he will be in touch regarding the possibility of a celebration of her life at Highlands United Church.

Thank you,
Highlands United Church

Hi Andrew,

We are not currently open to the public yet. We are hoping to begin in-person services in the fall, and we will make sure to announce our opening date on our website. If you like, we can add you to our email list, and we would also make an announcement via email.

Thank you,
Highlands United Church

Hello: I am Sylvia O'Brien's niece. Aunt Sylvia died at the General Hospital on Sunday, July 24th.
Aunt Sylvia would have been 104 on August 23rd.

Aunt Sylvia was an active member of the Highlands - even when she took transit from the condo she lived downtown. Often friends would give her a ride. Unfortunately after enjoying good health well into her 90's she broke her hip while in assisted living and from then on she has been in long term care at the General. Her last years have not been what Aunt Sylvia would have chosen as she was incapacitated and didn't see well or hear in spite of headphones and a microphone attachment.

She always spoke highly of the minister at the Highlands, but it could easily be someone else by now.

Aunt Sylvia has one son, Herb who lives in Texas as well as two granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren - all living in Texas.

With the problems related to travel and Covid there wont be a celebration of her life until October or November but the family would like to have a small service at the church celebrating her very well lived life.

When holidays come to a close, could you please advise what you suggest?

Thanks
Margaret (O'Brien)

I would like to express my Thanks for the very special service this morning. It was most meaningful and inspiring - It is really neat to see how technology can be used. I found myself spiritually involved with your message as well with communion and as always the words have special meaning for me. Community would be nice but since I thank you for your creativity. Loved the Bunny and its story,
As a former member of Beverly United - I do have my UCC Membership with me and will transfer as soon as able. As John knows I have lots and lots of practice for isolation. I would also like to be put on your mailing list. If your require any other info from me, please contact me.
Have a Blessed Easter
